December 2024
The Trail Mix is the monthly newsletter of The Friends of the Greenway. We established this bulletin to keep you current on some of the “goings- on” regarding our Trail and to dispense a mix of bits and bytes of flavorful information. Hopefully, The Trail Mix will help to enlighten, inform, and entertain our readers. The Friends of the Greenway is part of The Three Village Community Trust. The Trust was established more than twenty years ago to “Protect the Places You Love.” Support the Greenway today by joining the Trust today!
Happy Holidays to All!
The Friends of the Greenway and the Three Village Community Trust wish you a joyous Holiday Season. In a sometimes topsy-turvy world, it is good to know you can visit the Greenway to get some quiet exercise and fresh air. Thank you for your support and help throughout 2024 – so many of you pick up litter, make repairs, and complete ‘trail tasks’ with little or no recognition. To all of you – well done!
Making Everyone Smile !
Does it get better than this? Cub Scout Pack 354 was out on the trail clearing leaves on a beautiful, brisk Fall day in November. They did some amazing work. A salute to Tara Robertson – the Chair of Pack 354, and the parents/guardians of the Scouts. Look at those smiles of the Scouts! The results, as you’ll see in the photos, will make you smile, too.
The Trust’s Fourth Annual Winter Coat Drive is Now in Progress.
Got a gently used winter coat taking up space in your closet? We’ll find it a new home – and wearer! Just bring the coat over to the front porch of the Trust’s Headquarters at 148 Main Street, Setauket. We’ll take it from there!! Let’s keep everyone warm!
The Trust’s Annual Fall Gala – An Amazing Success
Yes, the Three Village Community Trust, the parent organization of the Friends of the Greenway, hosted its 20th Annual Fall Fundraiser on Wednesday, November 13th at the Old Field Club.
The special guest for the evening was Dr. Heather Lynch of Stony Brook University – the internationally renowned author, researcher and lecturer, who was recently named the Inaugural Director of the Collaboration for the Earth at Stony Brook University.
Here are just a few snapshots from the event. The Trust website has more!
